In 1971 Catherine Paver set up Pavers because she couldn’t find comfortable, stylish shoes at a sensible price. Catherine’s three sons joined the business a few years later, and one of her sons - Stuart - still runs the business today. We are proud of our heritage and the family values of our brand. We are also obsessive about the quality of the footwear we sell, which has been one of the key reasons we have grown to be one of the UK’s leading shoe retailers. We have over 170 stores across the UK and Eire, as well as multiple websites, catalogues, and even a TV channel, where we sell shoes under the Pavers, Jones Bootmaker, and Herring Shoes brands. Each brand focuses in its own unique way on comfort, style, and value. Despite growing over the years, our Head Office and warehouse are still based in York, where the business was originally founded.

Through the Pavers Foundation, Pavers donates 2% of its annual profits to charity every year. As a family and as a business we have always supported our people who wish to contribute to and enrich their local communities through charitable endeavours. Everyone in the business has the opportunity to vote for two National Charities of the Year, and anyone who works for the business can also apply for a donation of between £500 - £50,000 for any cause that is of personal importance to them, as long as it relates to furthering health, education, or community causes. In 2018 alone, we donated over £400,000 to charitable causes. We see this work as a valuable opportunity to strengthen the local communities where our people live, as well as supporting colleagues and friends with causes close to their hearts.
